ROCK HEADLINES: Smashing Pumpkins, Eric Clapton, Pearl Jam

The Smashing Pumpkins have a lot going on at the moment, what with the reuniting of three of the band’s four original members for a tour this year. And now, frontman Billy Corgan says that the band is putting finishing touches on not just one, but two new EP’s of four songs each, with a first single most likely due out in May. The song titles are:  “Solara,” “Marchin’ On,” “Travels,” “Seek and You Shall Destroy,” “With Sympathy,” “Knights of Malta,” “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)” and “Alienation”.

Eric Clapton will play his only North American shows of 2018 when he plays two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York, October 6th and 7th. He played a show in Paris in January, and has another coming up at Hyde Park in London in July, but that’s it. Eric has been suffering from a number of health issues recently, including tinnitus in his ears and nerve damage in his hands that makes playing the guitar difficult. He turns 73 on March 30th.

Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready will be honored with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award at the 2018 MusiCares Concert For Recovery in Seattle on May 10th. Mike is being recognized for his significant dedication and support of MusiCares and his commitment to helping others in the addiction recovery process. The Concert For Recovery will feature performances by Slash, Duff McKagan, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and others, while the evening will close with a special performance by McCready and friends.
