Fortino’s Fuel for Kids
Fuel for Kids is a program that Dave Connelly – NHRA Pro Stock world championship crew chief and a 26-time winner as a Pro Stock driver – started in 2005 to support elementary schools in Ontario. This program has been running with grocery stores across Ontario for the last 10 years to the delight of students, parents, and teachers.
“I didn’t feel like we could make a difference working with some of the bigger charity groups – so we started working with schools. We knew that even if we only raised a school $300, that was soccer balls for the year, 10 years later we have raised over $225,000…that’s a lot of soccer balls.” Laughs Dave. “We’ve raised money for carpets, smartboards, playgrounds, technology, busing, breakfast programs…whatever they need…that’s the point. We let the school decide what they need most.”
This is a tremendous opportunity for local students, staff, and parents to raise a significant amount of money for anything their school needs!
The program has been operating in communities all over Ontario for the last 12-years and has raised over $300,000. Fun Fact: The current record holder was set in 2016 by Conestoga Public School who raised $8,901 in 3 hours!
Dave and his team will arrive at your school to deliver your students a very unique “Show and Tell”. The “Show and Tell” will be an informative and educational talk about the various safety elements both in what Dave wears as a driver and what is designed into his actual racecar. That evening, the team will visit your FORTINOS store and put on a BBQ fundraiser for your “adopted” school.
