The Hamilton Professional Fire Fighter’s Association (HPFFA), Local 288 will be hosting a fundraising event on June 23 at Bayfront Park in Hamilton from 10am-6pm.
This fundraiser will benefit Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation and the Hamilton Fire Fighters Charity, specifically the following identified projects for each Foundation:
Hamilton General Hospital Foundation – contributions to assist with purchase of an ECMO life support machine, valued at $180,000
Juravinski Hospital & Cancer Centre Foundation – contributions to assist with providing patient amenities for one Stem Cell Transplant Unit (electronic bed, over bed table, bedside cabinet, etc.)
McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation – contributions to assist with the purchase of a life-saving ventilator for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, valued at $60,000
Teams of 5 runners will push the “firefighter” bed around Bayfront Park while completing firefighter type challenges. Awards for different categories will be presented at the end of the event.
Inside the Park, participants, family, friends and all of Hamilton are invited to enjoy the festivities, including a Kidz Zone (with kid’s firefighter obstacle course, oversized puzzles & games), Beer Garden, Food Trucks, Fire Trucks, music provided by Y108, friends of the charity, WestJet raffle, giveaways and more… For complete event details, please visit http://www.fireifghtersforcharity.com
The Hamilton Professional Fire Fighter’s Association Charity & Community Support team has been a Registered Charity since 1967 operated by the members of Local 288. The goal has been to help those who need it most in the Community through various charity endeavors and community assistance, benefiting and supporting many local organizations and charities.
Teams of a minimum of 7 members will fundraise a minimum of $500.00 each per team to be eligible to push the HPFFA bed around Bayfront Park on the 1.5km route (approximate) in support of Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation and the HPFFA Charity. This isn’t your typical Bed-Push race! Get ready to run with Hamilton Firefighters around the Park participating in fire fighter related challenges throughout the course. Of course there will be one timed section, but we want your team to have fun accomplishing this course! And don’t worry…we provide the bed(s). You just need to get your team motivated and ready for a great day of fun!
At the end of each Push, teams can enjoy their success inside Bayfront Park with great food, beer garden, music provided by Y108, Kidz Zone, vendors and more! Team spots are limited, so please register soon!
The Bed-Push will run from 10am to 6pm (approx) at Bayfront Park.
Team Captains will need to register full teams prior to the event registration cut off date.
Teams will need to sign-in on-site at least 30 minutes prior to their race time.
THE ROUTE:
Each team will push one of two beds supplied by the HPFFA around Bayfront Park, while participating in fire fighter related challenges as they go! Hamilton Firefighters will run with each group to help or support where needed.

HISTORY This isn’t the first time the HPFFA Charity has hosted a Bed-Push fundraiser. The original bed (being used again this year) was initially created and used in 1991 to raise funds for McMaster Children’s Hospital and pushed from Niagara Region to Hamilton. This bed is currently being refurbished, updated and will be ready to go for JUNE 2018! Another brand new bed will also be created for participants to use this year!
